To be used with caution. For further information and guidance about using peels please click here: Glycolic acid is without doubt the most well known and most popular chemical peel and certainly most home peels sold on Ebay are Glycolic Acid. However most people are unaware that Glycolic acid may not be the most effective peel for them. The choice of peel depends on an individuals\’ skin type. Whereas Glycolic Acid is the appropriate choice for those with Normal skin it may not be the most appropriate choice for those with sensitive skin skin or, in particular, oily skin. Glycolic Acid and Lactic acid are water based and therefore the presence of too much oil in the skin will definitely retard the performance of both these peels. This is simply because the water based solution finds it difficult to get past the oil and act upon the skin. Salicylic acid is oil / alcohol based and being oil soluble quickly penetrates the oil and is able to work effectively on the skin. That is why salicylic acid is ideal for those with oily / acne prone skin. It is the only one of the peels that can penetrate to pore level and dissolve the gunk trapped in the pores that leads to blackheads and whiteheads. However, salicylic is not as effective as Glycolic and Lactic acid at treating fine lines and reducing the appearance of blemishes (perhaps the main reasons people use chemical peels). Now, Forever Young has found a way of combining two chemical peel acids so that you truly get the best of both worlds. All the benefits of Salicylic Acids\’ oil penetrating and acne control properties together with Lactic Acid\’s superior line treatment and blemish reduction properties. This makes it the perfect choice of peel for those with oily or combination skin who want the maximum line treatment benefits and blemish reduction properties of an Alpha Hydroxy Acid peel Lactic Acid is derived from sour milk, is a member of the Alpha Hydroxy Acid family, and is much milder on the skin versus other peels. The peeling process is very similar to how Glycolic Acid works. It has many important qualities, number one being that it is milder than other peels, so people with sensitive skin can apply this peel and see the same results as stronger peels. If you have Rosacea, this is a better peel for you than Glycolic Acid. However if you do have Rosacea we suggest using a lower strength peel such as the 10% or 15% Salicylic / Lactic Combination Peel.Once applied, lactic acid reacts with the outer layer of skin (epidermal) cells, weakening the binding properties of the lipids (the \’glue\’) that hold the dead cells together. This is the mechanism that allows the damaged outer skin layer to \”peel\” off to reveal the underlying new skin cells, thus giving your skin an even, untarnished texture. In addition, lactic acid can penetrate into the new skin cell\’s membrane, stimulating them to generate collagen and elastic fibres that improves and strengthens the skin\’s condition.Main Benefits of Lactic Peelsreduce fine wrinkling treat areas of dryness reduce uneven pigmentation aid in the control of acne smooth rough dry skin improve the texture of sun-damaged skin Salicylic acid is a member of the beta hydroxy acid family and is typically derived from willow. It works in a slightly different way to the alpha hydroxy acid peels such as glycolic and lactic acids. Salicylic acid is a chemical peel that is less irritating than glycolic and lactic acid and therefore more appropriate for people with more sensitive skin. The 20% strength equates to about 50% Strength of Glycolic Acid. If you are looking for a deeper peel but are unsure as to whether you can tolerate a 50% peel then try this product – it is just as effective a peel but will be less harshSalicylic Acid is the key ingredient for restoring purity and clarity to the skin. It is a highly effective peeling agent and an excellent pore cleanser with anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties. It works by gently removing old cells from the skin; boosts collagen production and in turn reduces wrinkles. Salicylic has an anti-inflammatory effect, making it useful for patients with Acne and Rosacea. Because it is oil absorbent it is much more appropriate for people with oily skin and is more effective in the treatment of acne and rosacea. This acid is able to penetrate the oily material blocking pores, in the process exfoliating and cleaning them out.Once applied, salicylic acid reacts with the outer layer of skin (epidermal) cells, weakening the binding properties of the lipids (the \’glue\’) that hold the dead cells together. This is the mechanism that allows the damaged outer skin layer to \”peel\” off to reveal the underlying new skin cells, thus giving your skin an even, untarnished texture. In addition, glycolic acid can penetrate into the new skin cell\’s membrane, stimulating them to generate collagen and elastic fibres that improves and strengthens the skin\’s condition. Please note that this solution strength will exfoliate the top layer of the skin and will, in most cases cause significant reddening of the skin. However the reddening should subside after several hours. After a day or two following application you ought to notice flaking of the skin (rather like peeling following sunburn). The effect of the peel will vary from individual to individual and the amount of peeling will vary. Don\’t be disappointed if your skin does not peel dramatically – home peels are designed to stimulate regeneration of the skin and obvious, visible peeling is not required to provoke this regenerationMain Benefits of Salicylic PeelsHelps control excessive oil production which may cause acne and rosaceaStimulates skin regeneration thereby promoting healthier skin to the surfaceStimulates the skins own collagen production thereby helping to diminish fine lines. Can diminish hyperpigmentation (uneven skin tone) associated with UV (sun) damageCan be carried out at home safelyDoes not cause any down time – some mild reddening for an hour or two after treatmentDirections for Use.We recommend 6 treatments – one week apart.
